WHERE IT ALL STARTED...

How The Blues Hotel Collective Started — and Where We Are Today

The Blues Hotel Collective began in 2024 as an independent radio program on Perth‑based internet station MITE Radio. Created and hosted by broadcaster and creative director Kelvin Stanley Huggins, the show quickly evolved beyond its original format. Early interviews with independent blues artists from Australia and the U.S. revealed stories too rich to fit within the constraints of a weekly radio segment.

This led to the creation of Just Talkin’ Blues, a long‑form YouTube interview series designed to give artists the space to share their experiences, influences, and perspectives without time limits.

By late 2025, Kelvin expanded the project further through deep research into the origins of blues music — its history, culture, and political foundations. This work became Blues Moments in Time, a short‑form storytelling series exploring the pivotal events that shaped the genre.

In 2026, The Blues Hotel Collective enters a new chapter with The Collective Live Sessions, an intimate live showcase series featuring independent Australian blues artists. These events bring audiences and musicians together in close conversation, supported by live audio and video capture to enhance artist exposure.

Kelvin is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, strengthening the creative and technical foundation of the Collective’s growing body of work.

Today, The Blues Hotel Collective stands as a multi‑platform creative hub dedicated to blues culture, storytelling, and community — and continues to expand its reach and impact.

Three Shows. One Collective. One Purpose.
